This year Christmas
Traditions with the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir has a new
home at the Citadel Gillygate York. This
larger venue allows us to include again another Christmas tradition – one that
was so popular for many years at Carols in Kirkgate – young voices. We will be joined by a different primary school /youth choir on each of the four nights.
Christmas
Traditions, a blend of carols old and new, Christmas songs, readings
and sketches will be presented by the York Phil, the Kirkgate Ladies choir, which joins
us every year, with additional contributions from one of our guest youth choirs.
Some cabaret style seating at tables is available on the ground floor, to better enjoy a mince pie and glass of wine during the interval, plus some theatre style rows, with tiered seating in the balcony. Please note the balcony, although offering an excellent view of the show, is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. There is no lift to the first floor and there are some deep steps on the tiering.
Wheel chair
access to the ground floor is fine and the Citadel is only a short distance
from Union Terrace car park.
We look forward to
greeting again many familiar faces but also look forward to introducing
ourselves to new concert goers. Christmas
Traditions runs from Tuesday 3rd December to Friday 6th
December so come along and join with us as we get the festive season
started.
